Garing, Taylor & Associates, Inc. (GTA) is seeking a talented and driven Senior Civil Engineer to join our team in Arroyo Grande, California. This role offers the opportunity to take on significant responsibilities in land development and public works projects while building expertise and preparing for future leadership opportunities within our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design and execution of client projects in accordance with engineering best practices, including grading and drainage designs, water and sewer systems, and stormwater management (SWM).
  • Prepare Design Documents and Construction Documents for a variety of projects, including commercial and residential developments and public works.
  • Conduct hydrology calculations and prepare hydrology reports, ensuring compliance with SWM requirements and local municipal regulations.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology software to create high-quality designs and detailed reports.
  • Support the Project Manager in overseeing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables, maintaining open communication with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Mentor junior team members and collaborate with the engineering team to uphold GTA’s high standards for quality and professionalism.
  • Coordinate with permitting agencies to ensure timely project approvals and compliance with local codes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of technical engineering experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred or willingness to pursue it within a specified timeline.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology software.
  • Demonstrated experience with grading and drainage designs, water and sewer systems, hydrology reports, and SWM.
  • Knowledge of SWM requirements in local municipalities and the ability to apply them effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative and growth-oriented mindset, with an eagerness to mentor junior staff and support team initiatives.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with public agency and capital improvement projects.
  • Familiarity with construction inspection processes for stormwater drainage systems and vertical construction.
  • Certified QSD and experience with permitting processes.
  • Involvement in large-scale commercial, residential, or public works projects.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range: $90,000 – $115,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
